1) World Malaria Day: 25 April
•The theme emphasises the collective energy and commitment of the global malaria community that is uniting all around the world to curb the disease and working towards the common goal to making the world malaria free. The disease is caused by the Plasmodium parasites, which is spread to people through the bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito, also known as malaria vectors.
2) India's 1st E-Commerce Think Tank Meet Convened By Suresh Prabhu
•The setting up of this e-commerce think tank and the initiative taken by the ministry may well be interpreted as the government and its allied bodies beginning to understand the growth potential of the e-commerce industry in India.
3) Sushma Swaraj Attends Meeting Of India-Mongolia Joint Committee
•External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj co-chaired the 6th round of India-Mongolia Joint Consultative Committee meeting with her Mongolian counterpart Damdin Tsogtbaatar in Ulaanbaatar.
•The meeting discussed trade, economic, cultural and scientific co-operation. Mrs Swaraj became the first Indian External Affairs Minister to visit the nation in 42 years.
4) Madras HC, 1st Court In South India To Introduce E-Court Fee Payment Facility
•The Madras High Court became the first court in south India and overall eighth in the country to introduce e-court fee payment facility. It was jointly launched by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Chief Justice Indira Banerjee.
•The new system will enable litigants who file cases in High Court to pay judicial stamp duty to the government through e-stamps, which can be purchased both online and offline. It will pave way for easier and secured way of paying stamp duty.
5) M-Awas App For Allotment Of GPRA Through ASA Launched
•Hardeep Puri, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs (I/C) launched a Mobile App (m-Awas) for allotment of Government accommodations in General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) in Delhi under the control of the Directorate of Estates.
•The application has been developed by NIC. A total number of 61,317 residential accommodations of various types are available in Delhi which are allotted to the eligible Central Government employees through Automated System of Allotment (ASA), by using login Id and password.
6) Foreigners Can Now Travel To Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur Without Permit
•The Home Ministry has decided to relax the six-decade-old Protected Area Permit regime from Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur for five years. Foreign tourists, except those from Pakistan, China and Afghanistan,will now be allowed to visit some of the most pristine locations of the country which, so far, were out of bounds for them without a special permit.
•Under the Foreigners (Protected Areas) Order, 1958, all areas falling between the Inner line and the International Border of some states were declared as protected areas. The protected areas currently include whole of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim, besides parts of Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir.

1) National Panchayati Raj Day: 24 April
Activities of PM Modi on NPRD 2018:
•Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Mandla in Madhya Pradesh on the National Panchayati Raj Day. He launched the Rashtriya Gramin Swaraj Abhiyan, at a public meeting, and addressed Panchayati Raj representatives across the country, from Mandla.
Background:
•The Constitution (73rd Amendment) Act, 1992 that came into force with effect from 24th April 1993 has institutionalized Panchayati Raj through the village, Intermediate and District level Panchayats. The impact of the 73rd Amendment in rural India is very visible as it has changed power equations irreversibly. Accordingly, the Government of India decided in consultation with the States to celebrate 24th April as National Panchayati Raj Day. Ministry of Panchayati Raj organises National Conference on 24th April every year to commemorate the National Panchayati Raj Diwas.
2) Sushma Swaraj & Nirmala Sitharaman Attends SCO’s Meet In China
•It is a preparatory meeting related to upcoming summit of the SCO. The annual summit of the SCO, in which India is the latest entrant along with Pakistan, will take place in the Chinese city of Qingdao in June 2018.
3) Nitin Gadkari Inaugurates 29th Road Safety Week In New Delhi
•The central government has increased the number of National Highways keeping in mind the traffic density and various other factors. Mr Gadkari has announced that India will sign a pact with South Korea for enhancing road safety measures.
4) Sunderban Reserve Forest To Get Ramsar Site Status
•Once it is conferred Ramsar site status, Sundarbans Reserve Forest will be largest protected wetland in the country. There are currently 26 sites in India recognised as Ramsar wetland sites of international importance.
Important Facts About Sundarbans:
•Sundarbans is vast contiguous mangrove forest ecosystem in the coastal region of Bay of Bengal spread across India and Bangladesh.
•It covers approximately 10,000 square kilometres of area of which 60% is in Bangladesh and remaining in India.
•It is located in the delta region of Padma, Meghna and Brahmaputra river basins.
•It is the largest tidal halophytic mangrove forest in the world.
•It was recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
•Sundarban forests are known for its self- Royal Bengal Tiger.
5) EU, UN Co-Host Conference On Syria Aid
•The conference will bring together participants from more than 85 countries and organisations at the ministerial level, as well as those from over 200 non-governmental organisations. It is the second conference of its kind since 2017.
6) Canada, EU To Host World’s 1st Female Foreign Ministers Meeting
•Female Foreign ministers from about 30 countries will be invited to the gathering, which is aimed at deepening global discussion on women’s empowerment.
