The missile was launched from Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha coast

2. Dr Neelu Rohmetra, First Woman Indian Institute of Management Director

The government has appointed Professor Neelu Rohmetra as the Director of Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur.

The first female to head one of India's 20 premier business schools.

 The Centre also appointed directors of nine other IIMs, including IIM Bangalore.

 Professor G Raghuram, who has been an IIM Ahmedabad faculty member since 1985, was appointed IIM Bangalore's Director

3. Jiro Taniguchi, legend in Japan's comic art of manga, dies at 69

Jiro Taniguchi, a legend in Japan's comic art of manga, died today at the age of 69.

 His publisher in France, Casterman, announced the death on its website expressing its deep condolences to the artist's family.

Taniguchi achieved an international following with works such as The Walking Man, The Summit of the Gods and The Magic Mountain, hailed for exquisite line drawing and intricately-constructed landscapes.

He was especially popular in France, one of the biggest markets for graphic art.

4. India beat Pakistan by 9 wickets to win T20 Blind World Cup 2017

India beat Pakistan by 9-wickets to win T20 Blind World Cup at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

 Successfully defending their title in the T20 Blind World Cup, India achieved the victory target of 198-runs in the 18th over in the final of the tournament this afternoon.

Pakistan had scored 197 for 8 in their 20 overs.The team had won the previous edition by defeating the same rivals in the final in 2012.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the Indian blind cricket team for winning the Twenty20 World Cup. Congratulating them Mr. Modi tweeted, India is proud of their accomplishment.

5. R Ashwin becomes fastest to 250 Test wickets

Ashwin dismissed Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim for his 250th wicket.

With this scalp, Ashwin now stands 17 wickets shy of going past Bishan Singh Bedi's tally of 266.

Ashwin reached the 250-mark in his 45th Test.
