1) PM Modi Inaugurated World's Largest Mobile Factory In Noida
•Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korean President Moon Jae-in visited Noida and inaugurated the New Mobile Manufacturing Plant of Samsung at Noida. Notably, it will be the world's largest mobile factory. 

•With the beginning of this New Plant, India's Make In India and Skill India Will get a major Push in the country. Samsung has Invested close to 5,000 Crore Rupees in this plant and aims to Manufacture 12 Crore Mobile Handsets annually which will result in massive job creation.

2) Ministry Of Housing And Urban Affairs Launched ISCF And ISCI Program
•Mr Hardeep S Puri, Minister of State (I/C), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has launched India Smart Cities Fellowship (ISCF) and Internship (ISCI) program that will provide the youth with an opportunity to experience the aspects of Urban planning and governance.

•'Smart Cities Digital Payments Awards 2018' was also launched which is intended to promote ‘Digital India’ and ease of living for India’s urban residents by promoting digital payments and encouraging Smart Cities to adopt innovative digital payments initiatives.

1. India Smart Cities Fellowship (ISCF) Program: The India Smart Cities Fellowship Program is designed to provide valuable experience to the youth interested in smart cities specifically, and urban renewal sector in general and will bring in new ideas, passion and energy to the challenging but exciting work of implementing cutting edge, high-impact solutions to key urban problems.

2. India Smart Cities Internship (ISCI) Program: MoHUA will engage students pursuing Under Graduate/Graduate/Post Graduate degree as Interns to help implementation of Smart City Projects in various States/Cities. The internship will be on unpaid basis for a period of 6 to 12 weeks. They will be given an Experience Certificate at the end successful completion of the program.

3. The Smart Cities Digital Payments Awards 2018: The Smart Cities Digital Payments Awards (SCDPA) 2018 ‘100 days Challenge in 100 Smart Cities’ is part of the initiatives of MoHUA to promote ease of living for India’s urban residents. The objective of these awards is to guide, motivate, recognize and reward the Smart Cities for promoting digital payments and carrying out innovative payment initiatives in their respective cities.

3) Government Sets Noise Standards For Airports Across India
•The Union Environment Ministry has issued a notification setting noise standards for all airports across the country. The limits, however, exclude defence aircrafts, and those that are landing and taking off.

•The rules state that busy airports — a civil airport with more than 50,000 aircraft movements per year (take-off or a landing) – should not exceed noise levels beyond 75 dB(A) Leq (decibels) during the daytime (6am to 10pm) and 65 dBA during the night (10pm to 6am).

•All other airports — an airport having more than 15,000 but less than 50,000 movements annually — should not exceed levels beyond 65 dBA during the day and 60 dBA during the night. Proposed airports however, are excluded so far. 

4) Prakash Javadekar Inaugurates 17th World Sanskrit Conference In Canada
•Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar inaugurated the 17th World Sanskrit Conference held at Vancouver, Canada. More than 500 scholars and delegates from over 40 countries will participate in the five-day conference and exchange their knowledge by presenting papers on various subjects. 

•The purpose of this conference is to promote, preserve and practice the Sanskrit language all over the world by the people. The World Sanskrit Conference is being held in various countries across the globe once in every three years and so far it has been held thrice in India. 

5) ‘The English Patient’ By Michael Ondaatje Declared 'Best Booker Prize Winner In 50 Years'
•Michael Ondaatje’s bestselling novel 'The English Patient' was announced as the winner of the Golden Man Booker Prize at the Southbank Centre in London. The prize was instituted as part of celebrations to mark the Booker’s having completed 50 years.

•Ondaatje’s novel, set during World War II, about a horribly burned man who finds himself in an Italian villa with three other unlikely characters, was picked as the winner by a public poll from a shortlist of five books. 

6) Sreejesh To Lead Indian Hockey Team At Asian Games 2018
•Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh will lead the 18-member Indian men's hockey squad while Chinglensana Singh Kangujam will serve as his deputy in the 18th Asian Games, which will begin in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia in August 2018. 

•Meanwhile, Indian forward Akashdeep Singh has made a return to the squad after being sidelined due to an injury. 

7) Dipa Karmakar Clinches Gold Medal At Gymnastics World Cup
•India’s premier gymnast Dipa Karmakar clinched a gold medal in the vault event of FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup at Mersin in Turkey. She returned to action after nearly two years of lay-off due to injury. 

•The 24-year-old from Tripura, Dipa Karmakar scored 14.150 to win gold. This is Dipa’s first medal in a World Challenge Cup. She had topped the qualification also with a score of 13.400. She has been included in the 10-member Indian gymnastics team for the upcoming Asian Games.
