After filling the online application form if you are making your study plan without going through the prescribed syllabus of SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination, you are like a mountaineer who is climbing the Mount Everest without his climbing kit.

English Comprehension-
SSC tend to check candidates’ basic aptitude or understanding in English Language through CGL Examination.
Questions asked under this section are both of graduation and High school level. Candidates just need to make one honest effort with all their strength and then they will see the outcome.
Quantitative Aptitude (Mathematics):
Candidates are expected to have basic numeracy ability to do general mathematical operations. SSC is not interested in selecting those candidates who are not good at mathematical operations of daily use.
This portion of the examination includes the topics of-
Number System, decimals, fractions, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Alligation, Time and distance, Time & Work, Basic Algebraic expressions, Geometric shapes and their mathematical operations, Trigonometric operations, Heights and Distances and Pie chart.
General Intelligence and Reasoning-
SSC hunts for such skilled people through CGL whose responses are quick to new and sudden situations. For this they check candidates’ intelligence through Reasoning.
Topics in this section include-
Analogies, judgment, decision making, relationship concepts, word building, arithmetical reasoning, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, Venn diagram, syllogistic reasoning, Critical thinking, Emotional Intelligence and Social Intelligence etc.
General Awareness –
An educated person is always expected to have the information or knowledge of his surroundings and if a person does so, it means he cares for the environment he lives in.
SSC tests the General awareness of the candidates only for the purpose to know how caring a person is.

This section includes the questions related to-

History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy & Scientific Research and questions related to India’s neighboring countries.
If you have studied the SSC CGL Exam pattern you will find that there are two stages of the examination i.e. Tier-I and Tier-II.
For the Tier-I examination, you will get questions from all four topics- English, Mathematics, Reasoning, and General Knowledge but in Tier-II, you will have to give stress on English and Mathematics as you will get questions from these two topics only.
