1) South Korean President Moon Jae-In's Visit To India: Complete Highlights
•South Korean President Moon Jae-in was in India on a four-day visit from July 8 to July 11, 2018. This was his first visit to India. He was accompanied by First Lady Kim Jung-sook. 

•Here are the main events that took place during the visit: 

1. President Moon attended the India-Korea business forum:
•Korean President Moon Jae-in spoke at the India-Korea Business Forum. This was organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). 

2. Inaugurated World's Largest Mobile Factory In Noida:
•PM Narendra Modi and South Korean President Moon Jae-in visited Noida and inaugurated the New Mobile Manufacturing Plant of Samsung at Noida. Notably, it is the world's largest mobile factory. Samsung has Invested close to 5,000 Crore Rupees in this plant and aims to Manufacture 12 Crore Mobile Handsets annually which will result in massive job creation. 

3. India & South Korea Signed 5 MoUs In Field Of Science and Technology:
•India and South Korea have signed five MoUs in the field of Science and Technology in New Delhi. Science and Technology Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan and his South Korean counterpart You Young Min signed three MoUs which are Programme of Cooperation 2018-21, Establishment of Future Strategy Group and Cooperation in Biotechnology and Bio-economy. 

4. India, South Korea Ink 11 MoUs:
•India and South Korea signed 11 MOUs during South Korean President Moon Jae-in's visit to India. The MoUs signed between the two countries are: 
i. Upgraded Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) was signed to facilitate ongoing negotiations on upgrading the India-RoK (Republic of Korea) CEPA by identifying key areas for trade liberalization (including shrimp, molluscs and processed fish).
ii. An MoU on trade remedies was signed for cooperation in the area of trade remedies such as anti-dumping, subsidy, countervailing and safeguard measures through consultations and exchange of information. 

5. India-Korea Technology Exchange Centre Inaugurated: 
•The India-Korea Technology Exchange Centre was inaugurated by the Minister of State (I/C) MSME Giriraj Singh and Minister of SMEs and Start-ups of Republic of Korea, Hong Jong- hak in New Delhi. The purpose of the Technology Exchange Centre is to create a platform for micro, small and medium enterprises of India and Korea where they can be assisted to identify and exchange latest technologies, share management expertise, product development and technology applications for product development.

2) Mukesh Ambani Dethrones Alibaba's Jack Ma As Asia's Richest Person
•Reliance Industries Chairman and India's richest person Mukesh Ambani dethroned Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba's Co-founder Jack Ma to become Asia's richest person as RIL shares hit an all-time high. 

•Ambani's net worth now stands at $44.3 billion as compared to Jack Ma's $44 billion wealth, according to Bloomberg. Ambani has added $4 billion to his wealth this year.

3) Railways Launched Its 1st Consolidated Bridge Management System
•The Railways has launched its first consolidated Bridge Management System, a web-enabled IT application to store data on its one lakh 50 thousand bridges. Railways Minister Piyush Goyal launched the service in New Delhi for “meaningful assimilation, analysis and dissemination of information related to various activities” about its bridges.

•Mr Goyal also distributed awards to the Station Beautification competition. Balharshah and Chandrapur railway stations in Maharashtra from the Central Railway were awarded the first prize while Madhubani station of the East Central Railway and Madurai station of Southern Railway were the co-winners of the second prize.

4) UN Secretary-General Constitutes High-Level Panel On Digital Cooperation
•The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres constituted a High-Level Panel on Digital Cooperation. The panel will be co-chaired by Melinda Gates, Co-Chairman of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Jack Ma, Executive Chairman of Alibaba Group. 

•The Panel has a total of 20 members, representing a cross-section of expertise from Government, private industry, civil society, academia and the technical community. The Panel will hold its first in-person meeting in September 2018. 

5) Telecom Commission Of India Approves Net Neutrality
•The Telecom Commission has approved the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's (TRAI) net neutrality recommendations that bar service providers from discriminating against internet content and services by blocking, throttling or granting them higher speed access. The decision that aims to ensure open and free Internet in the country was taken at a meeting of the Commission, the highest decision-making body in the Department of Telecommunication in New Delhi. 

What is Net Neutrality?

•Net neutrality is a principle that requires the Internet service providers to treat all content on the Internet equally without favouring or withholding access to certain websites, services or apps or charging differently based on the user, content, website or platform. The rules aim to give consumers equal access to web content and prevent broadband providers from favouring their own content. 

6) Industrial Production Growth Slips 3.2% In May, Retail Inflation Rises To 5% In June
•Industrial production growth slipped to a seven-month low of 3.2% in May mainly due to sluggish performance of manufacturing and power sectors and other reasons, according to the data released by theCentral Statistics Office.

•The manufacturing sector, which constitutes 77.63% of the index, grew by just 2.8% in May, marginally up from 2.6% in the corresponding period last year. The mining sector output recorded an impressive growth of 5.7% in May as against 0.3% in May 2017. The FMCG sector was the worst performer among the user based goods segment. 

7) RBI Made Purchaser’s Name On Face Of Payment Instrumentalities Compulsory
•The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made it compulsory to incorporate purchaser’s name on the face of payment instrumentalities like demand draft, pay order, banker’s cheques and other instruments to prevent money laundering.

•It has been done in order to address the concerns arising out of the anonymity and to prevent money laundering. The RBI issued a notification in Mumbai to this effect to the banks. This directive will come into effect from 15th of September 2018.

8) IAAF World U20 Championship: Hima Das Bags Gold, Creates History
•18-year-old Indian runner Hima Das created history by becoming the first-ever Indian woman to win an athletics gold on the international stage. Hailing from Assam, Hima finished on top of the podium in the women’s 400m event at the IAAF World U20 Championship in Tampere, Finland, clocking 51.46 seconds. 

•51.13 seconds is her personal best and is now also the Indian U20 national record. Earlier, she competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, finishing sixth in the final with a time of 51.32 seconds.

1) 1st India Tourism Mart To Be Held In New Delhi
•The first India Tourism Mart will be organized in New Delhi in September 2018 to create a global tourism mart for India on lines of major international travel marts. Tourism Minister K J Alphons announced that the 3 days long event will boost the tourism sector in the country. 

•The Mart will provide a platform for stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality industries to interact and transact business opportunities. It will also provide an opportunity to the buyers to see the world class tourism facilities available in India. 

2) PM Modi Inaugurates New Headquarters Building Of ASI
•Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Headquarters building of the Archaeological Survey of India in New Delhi.

•The new Headquarters building is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including energy-efficient lighting and rainwater harvesting. It will also include a Central Archaeological Library with a collection of about one lakh 50 thousand books and journals. 

3) India, UK Sign Agreement On Exchange Of Experience By Legal Professionals
•India and the United Kingdom signed an agreement on the exchange of experience by legal professionals and government functionaries for resolution of disputes before various courts and tribunals. The agreement was signed by Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and UK’s Secretary of State for Justice David Gauke in London. 

•The MoU sought to enhance bilateral cooperation in legal affairs which would provide a framework for promoting greater cooperation between the judicial and legal professionals in both countries through the exchange of expertise and training. 

4) UN Security Council Adopts Resolution To Protect Children In Armed Conflict
•The UN Security Council adopted a resolution 2427, aimed at a framework for mainstreaming protection, rights, well-being and empowerment of children throughout the conflict cycle.

•Resolution 2427, which won unanimous approval of the 15 members of the council, strongly condemns the recruitment and use of children by parties to armed conflict as well as their re-recruitment, killing and maiming, rape and other forms of sexual violence, abductions. The council was chaired by Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven. 

5) India Becomes 69th Shareholder Of European Bank For Reconstruction & Development
•India has become the 69th shareholder of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). This move paved the way for more joint investment with Indian companies across the bank’s regions of operation.

•India had applied for the membership in December 2017. The Board of Governors voted unanimously in favour of the country’s application. The EBRD aims to promote the private and entrepreneurial initiative in emerging Europe and invests in 38 emerging economies.

6) Asia Cup Archery: Korea Topped, India Finished 3rd
•India has bagged four medals in the Asia Cup World Archery Ranking Tournament Stage 3 in Taipei, Taiwan. The feat comprised 3 silver medals and a bronze. India also finished joint third with Iran in the championship. 

•India ended their campaign behind toppers Korea and hosts Chinese Taipei. Korea topped the tally with 14 medals, 8 of them being gold. Taipei bagged 5 medals, two of them being gold.
