UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2017: Notification For 980 Vacancies Out; Know Details Here

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification for the Civil Services (preliminary) Examination 2017 today. As per the calendar the application process will begin online on the Commission's official website today and will end on March 17. The written preliminary examination is scheduled for June 18, 2017. The Preliminary exam is also known as Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). CSAT is the first phase and is objective in nature. It is followed by phase two which is a subjective test and the final test which comprises of Interview before a panel. The CSAT exam will also serves as the preliminary exam for Indian Forest Service 2017 exam. 

UPSC has also released the Preliminary Examination Notification for Indian Forest Services (Through Civil Services Preliminary).

The number of vacancies to be filled on the result of the Civil Services 2017 examination is expected to be approximately 980 which include 27 vacancies reserved Physically Handicapped Category, i.e. 07 vacancies for LDCP, 08 Vacancies for B/LV and 12 Vacancies for H.I, said the UPSC Notification.

Online Application process begins: February 22, 2017
Online Application Process ends: March 17, 2017
Date of Written Examination: June 18, 2017 (Sunday)

UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2017 Notification: How to Apply

Step one: Go to UPSC official website: upsc.gov.in

Step two: Hover on the recruitment tab and click on the Online Recruitment Application link.

Step three: Click on New Registration or alternatively click on Already Registered link and login to your account.

Step four: For new registrations, fill in the required details and click on submit.

Step five: Go back to the Online Recruitment Application page and click on Apply Now link for Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2017.

Step six: Fill all the required details and upload required documents and submit. 

The application process will not be complete without application fee payment. Application fee can be submitted via Credit card/debit card/Internet banking.

Scheme of Examination

CSAT comprises of two objective type papers. Each paper will carry 200 marks and will be of 2 hours duration. Paper I will cover general knowledge and general awareness topics. Paper II will have questions from topics such as numerical ability, data interpretation, logical reasoning, communication ability etc.
