1) ISRO Launches PSLV C-45 Carrying EMISAT And 28 Nano Satellites
•The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched a Defence Intelligence Satellite, EMISAT in its 47th Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) mission, along with 28 other customer satellites, onboard the advanced PSLV-C45 Rocket.

•The PSLV C45 was launched from ISRO’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.It is the first time ISRO is launching satellites in three different orbits. Along with that, the PSLV-C45 launch vehicle is also the first PSLV rocket to use four strap-on motors. 

2) GRSE Becomes ‘First’ Indian Shipyard To Deliver 100 Warships
•Garden Reach Ship Builders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE) became the ‘first Indian shipyard’ to build and deliver 100 warships. GRSE Chairman and Managing Director, Rear Admiral (Retd) V K Saxena, formally handed over the 100th warship ‘IN LCU L-56’ to the Indian Navy.

3) Zuzana Caputova Becomes 1st Female President Of Slovakia
•Anti-graft lawyer Zuzana Caputova won Slovakia’s presidential election, making her the country’s first female head of state. The 45-year old political novice won about 58.3% of the voted ahead of the more politically savvy European commissioner Maros Sefcovic who took 41.7%.

4) Tesla Builds Its ‘Largest Energy Storage System In Asia’
•Tesla has developed its ‘largest power storage system in Asia’ at Osaka train station in Japan to reduce energy demand and provide emergency backup power to trains in Japan. It was Launched in partnership with Kintetsu, a railway operator in Japan’s Osaka.

•Tesla stated that 7 megawatt-hours (MWh) system is its largest energy storage project in Asia and the fourth largest in the greater Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.




5) RBI Sets NBFC-MFIs’ Average Base Rate At 9.21% For April-June
•The Reserve Bank set the average base rate to be charged from borrowers by non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) and micro-finance institutions (MFIs) at 9.21% for the first quarter of the next fiscal (April-June). The regulator in February 2014 had issued directions to NBFC-MFIs regarding pricing of credit.

•RBI, on the last working day of every quarter, comes out with the average of the base rates of the five largest commercial banks for the purpose of arriving at the interest rates to be charged by NBFC-MFIs to its borrowers in the ensuing quarter.

6) BOB Becomes 3rd Largest Bank As Dena, Vijaya Merger Take Effect
•The amalgamation of Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank into the Bank of Baroda (BoB) has come into effect and all branches of the former two will function as branches of BoB. The merged entity would also receive Rs 5,042 crore fund infusion from the government.

•According to the RBI, the Customers, including depositors of Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank, will be treated as customers of Bank of Baroda with effect from April 1, 2019. Post the merger, Bank of Baroda has become the third largest bank in the country.

7) 84th Establishment Day of RBI: 1st April 2019
•The Central Bank of India is celebrating its 84th establishment day today. The Reserve Bank of India was established on April 1, 1935, in accordance with the provisions of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. The bank was established on the recommendation of the Hilton Young Commission. The Central Office of the Reserve Bank was initially established in Calcutta but was permanently moved to Mumbai in 1937. The Central Office is where the Governor sits and where policies are formulated.

•Though originally privately owned, since nationalisation in 1949, the Reserve Bank is fully owned by the Government of India. The Reserve Bank’s affairs are governed by a central board of directors. The board is appointed by the Government of India in keeping with the Reserve Bank of India Act.

•Shaktikanta Das is the present Governor of RBI and following are the 4 Deputy Governors.

1.N. S. Vishwanathan, Deputy Governor.
2.Dr. Viral V. Acharya, Deputy Governor.
3.B.P. Kanungo, Deputy Governor.
4.Mahesh Kumar Jain, Deputy Governor.

8) Dhanbad Tops 4G Availability Chart In India
•A report by OpenSignal, which is named as ‘OpenSignal’s Hottest city for 4G Availability’ reveals the 4G Availability in India’s 50 largest cities. Out of the 50 cities, Dhanbad, which is also known as the coal capital of India has the highest 4G availability of 95.3%, followed by Ranchi which has 95% of 4G Availability.

•Notably, both Ranchi and Dhanbad are two cities in Jharkhand and they are the only two cities to have over 95% of 4G coverage. Interestingly, Srinagar, which is one of the remote areas in the country stood third on the list with 4G Availability score of 94.9%.

9) Manu Sawhney Takes Over As Chief Executive of ICC
•Manu Sawhney took over as the International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Executive  Officer (CEO). Sawhney has been working alongside the outgoing CEO David Richardson for the last six weeks to ensure a smooth transition within the organisation.

•Richardson will remain with the ICC until July as originally planned to oversee the delivery of the upcoming Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019.

10) Miami Open: Federer Lifts 101st Career Title
•Switzerland’s Roger Federer defeats USA’s John Isner in straight sets to lift his 101st career title at the Miami Open. Federer is now behind only America’s Jimmy Connors with 109 career singles titles. 

•Roger Federer has lifted his fourth title at the Miami Open. It is Swiss player’s 28th Masters’ title and the 101st overall for a player who has won 20 Grand Slam singles titles.
